I have been off the creamy crack aka a relaxer since 2007. I learned the true dangers of relaxing or using a perm on my hair. During a period of time from 2007-2011 I wore extensions and lace front wigs. I chose this method because it was quicker than dealing with my natural hair. Every once in a while I would let my natural hair breathe by wearing my hair in lose two-stranded twist. In 2007 I cut my hair in a short tapered style. I kept up the style for about a month or two. Then I started the natural hair process. I let my relaxed hair grow out while I wore different hair styles using extensions and wigs. It's a party! It's a party! It's a parrrttty! I told you all I like a good party. Call me the Dancing Queen! Although I enjoyed the many looks wigs and extensions offered, I did not like how the lace front wigs made my forehead itchy. Then one day I threw the itchy wig off! And let my natural mane run free. I also shaved the sides and the back of my head in 2012, as a statement of letting go of the past. It also symbolizes new beginnings for me. Once I let my hair go free, it started growing like a wild fire. I really miss my hair. In late 2013 I did a big chop. Due to lack of hair care, my hair started breaking off. Now it's growing back. I'm so excited! As my hair grows out I will continue to keep it in protective styles. Along with maintaining a healthy hair regimen. Can't wait until my hair grows longer but until then I will enjoy the process. Stay THRIFTY!
