I saw this quote posted on Instagram and it made me think. Yes this is a fashion blog but it's also my outlet. I wanted to share this with anyone that is at the verge of giving up. DO NOT GIVE UP! It's like there's always a storm before the brighter days. Let's stay strong together! I refuse to give up. Just take it one day at a time. Peace OUT...

I really like this sweater skirt. It's comfortable and warm. I loved the color palette of my outfit. The mint green, navy blue and tan are so soft and lady like. It brings a warm feel. I think I will use this color palette again! I paired the booties with socks. It was soooooo cold outside. Now that I think about it I could've changed my boots but the socks were cute too. Stay THRIFTY!!! There's nothing like a good 'ole wish-list. Key word: WISH. Although I can't afford all the things on my wish-list, I like to have one just in case! Plus it gives me a good idea of items to thrift for that have similar styles. Take a peek! Gotta have those pants. And that backpack is dope! Can we say, PRETTY?!? This dress is great for the summer but perfect for those warm spring days. I would add a cardigan. Preferably one of the colors from the dress. I think I would choose yellow! I love that top and the skirt! Classic! Let's start this Black History Month off right! I wanted to celebrate beautiful women of color with fabulous style. I hope this act will encourage people to learn more about these beautiful women of color. I did a post a few months ago on Phylicia Rashad and Debbie Allen. So I felt the need to pick up on where I left off. Our first star is Ms. Diahann Carroll. She is simply stunning! I love the respect she claims every time she walks into a room. She has graced our presence on television since the 60s. In 1968, Diahann Carroll became the first Black-American actress in television history to star in her own series, "Julia" for NBC, which soared to the top of the Nielsen rating and received an Emmy nomination in its first year of airing. For more information about Ms. Carroll and her career visit her website by clicking on the link below. Classic! Ms. Carroll and President John F. Kennedy She favors Whittney Houston in this picture to me. Yeeeessss! Dynasty. Although I don't remember any episodes I do remember she was FABULOUS! Stay THRIFTY!! Hey dolls! Here's another trendy online shop I wanted to share with you all. This boutique is called Fondren's Fashion House. An on the rise fashion forward boutique that caters to women from size zero to plus sizes. Check them out online today! Such a great vintage style! Stay THRIFTY! Oops! Well we all make mistakes. I am only human but I performed a thrifting NO, NO. I was thrifting at my favorite shop in South Holland. I found this FABULOUS green and black stripped jumpsuit! I saw it last week and was so happy it was still there on their half off day. Overcome by excitement I dismissed the thought to try the jumpsuit on. I was convinced it was sent from above and a must have! So I rushed to the cash register and went home feeling like a winner! Only to find out a few days later that the jumpsuit was too small for my fat butt...literally. In this case if only I had took advantage of the shop's dressing room, it could have saved me from utter disappointment. Lesson of the day, listen to your first thought! And always take advantage of a thrift store's fitting room. Peace OUT... Love is in the air! Don't hold your breathe cause it's powerfully contagious. I must admit that once upon a time I disliked this holiday like many people searching for love. It wasn't because I didn't have a Valentine but I had this fantasy of how that day should go. Flowers delivered to my job, expensive gifts, fancy dinner by candle light followed by a night of passion! Simple right? Well the reality is most men are not your typical romance novel fantasy. So I decided to stop setting myself up for disappointment. I had to realize that this day is not just designed for lovers but for the ones you love. My grandmother was born on February 14th. She was love and I had to realize if I wanted that lover I needed to appreciate the love I already had in my life. It does not matter if you don't have a lover for Valentine's day. What matters is, you are healthy, alive and you have family to love you. There's no use in wasting time being depressed on this one day. Are you depressed the other 364 days of the year? You didn't have a lover days prior to V-day and you may not have a lover after V-day. So turn that frown upside down bacause frown lines are not cute! Keep smiling love and remember you are loved. So when Valentine's Day come call the people you love and see how much better you will feel. Tell your mom/dad/sister/brother/uncle/grandpa happy V-day and tell them how much you love them. Make them smile and watch love at its best! Stay THRIFTY! I love boots! Why? Because they are cute and cozy. Well, these are. But at the conditions of this winter weather I'm about over boots and ready for strappy sandals. Go figure. Anywho I bought these Timberland boots several years ago at AJ Wright when they were going out of business. They were originally $90. I got them for $30...SCORE! Speaking of Instagram, go follow me!!! @JamikaB11 and @FEbyJamikaB I always follow back dolls and gents! Stay THRIFTY! So I found these cream stirrups randomly in my closet. I have not seen these in a little while. So I decide to remind myself of how much I loved them by creating 5 cute random go to outfits. In this outfit everything was thrifted. Navy blue DKNY blazer: Unique Thrift Store Pink houndstooth blouse: Restoration Minsitries Cream creased stirrups: Random church clothing bag sale (I was able to get a sales bag and fill it up with whatever I wanted. From clothes to books to gadgets to anything! All for $10 a bag!) Black embroider loafers: Goodwill Of course this look would not be ideal for the snow. So I'll save this one for those cool spring days. In this look everything is thrifted as well. Same blazer and stirrups. Tommy Hilfiger oxford: Restoration Ministries Statement necklace: Unique Thirft Store (and how unique is this seashell necklace?!? Love it!) Copper tone boots: Not thrifted but I don't have a clue where I bought them. Still cute, right?!? She think she cute! Yes-She-Do! I had fun with this look. Feeling like I'm from Cali on my mami chula kick. In this outfit is the same Tommy Oxford and stirrups. Black wedged boots: Unique thrift store In the last two looks I used this warm chunky sweater that I bought from H&M during some Black Friday sale for $5! That was about 2-3 years ago and I still love it. Blue Jean Tommy Hilfiger Jacket: Goodwill Ok, ok, I know the fifth look is paired with black leggings and not the cream stirrups but what can I say I'm a fan of the sweater! Plus it still works. Stay THRIFTY! |
